I will be honest I came across this event late in the day. Id always gone into the New Blood stage at Bloodstock and was blown away at how good the bands were. But just never knew about the competition. I first knew of the event last year but because I work when the heats are on I unfortunatly never went. Then last year after a bad few months I decided to take the photography and this has lead onto now doing this(poorly but getting better).

Now back onto the topic in hand. I unfortunatly missed alot of the heats because I didnt know they were on. Then while looking for a gig I stumbled across the Manchester one at Rebellion which happens to be on a Sunday. Brain start doing the maths finish work at 4pm can I be there by 6pm at latest.............. Yes I can.

So my adventure started back during heat 7 so unfortunatly I missed the first 6, but Oh boy I was hooked. The bands that came out were amazing and was well worth the drive and the £5 entry oh and £8 parking.

Since then I havent missed one the whole thing has been a complete joy to do. During this time I have met some amazing people.

Now down to the bands the tallent on show has been unbalivable and at the end of the night your heart goes out to the 2 bands that don't go though. Every time they come out give 100% but the competition is that tight in Manchester, and when you can pull a crowd of 150 to 250 on a Sunday night for the heats and 200+ for the Quater and Semi finals I can definatly say the metal scene in Manchester is alive and kicking.

0161 Manchester Underground Metal Community Promotions have done an amazing job of putting on these eventsand along with Rebellion they have turned a boring normal Sunday evening into something worth waiting for.

So looking forward to the final on the 1st June should be one amazing nights entertainment.

What you have to remember these bands are all unsigned and everything they do they do themselves which makes their accomplishments more amazing.

So Good luck to all the bands next Sunday....
